Bed talk with Alessandra

Alessandra: Mommy, did you know Miss Jessica lived through a hurricane in her basement? What happens when the hurricane comes?
Mommy: It takes the roof off, the beds, the toilets, the tables, sofas, toys… Then when you came out of the basement there is nothing left.

Alessandra: Do they go to the orphanage?
Mommy: Only if the kids no longer have parents. But if they do have mommy and/or daddy they go to a shelter

Alessandra: What is a shelter?
Mommy: Is a place where people can get a cup of soup and a spot to put a sleeping bag and sleep.

Alessandra: are there books?
Mommy: I don’t think so.

Alessandra: Is there a bathroom?
Mommy: Yes, there is a bathroom for all to share. Like when you are in school.

Alessandra: Is there a hot seat?
(In school the teacher asks the next child who needs to go to the bathroom to sit in the hot seat to wait for their turn.)
Mommy: No, I think they just stand in line.

Alessandra: How come it didn’t happen to our house?
Mommy: Because we prayed to God to send his angels to protect us and our house.

Alessandra: So, if you don’t pray the hurricane comes and if you pray you are safe?
Mommy: It can happen even when we pray, but when we pray God sends extra angels to protect us.

Alessandra: Few… good thing we pray!
Alessandra: Mommy I think we should say an extra special prayer for the hurricane today.
Alessandra: Dear Jesus, thank you for keeping us safe from the hurricane, please protect us when something bad happens. Amen

Tio Xande and Tia Luana's visit

We were very happy to see Tio Xande is Tia Lu on a short trip to MA. This will probably be the last time we will see Tio Xande till next September as he is will be deployed over seas again in a few months.

We already miss you Tio Xande... Be safe!

Speech

Alessandra started speech this past week and after the first visit she is already able to make the CH sound (cherry, Chase, beach, chip, etc). She is working very hard and very proud of herself.

Sofia is having a good time with story telling and drawing stories. She is very detailed in her art work and takes her time to be very consistent.

Summer Schedule - Camp

This week the girls started the summer schedule: FTK, speech, piano and soccer. Camp on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They love camp, wake up supper early and gets dressed so they dont miss the bus. Sofia loves pool time and already made several new best friends.

Alessandra on the first day came home very proud showing her bracelet for swimming in the deep end. She told everyone the story that she heard that she could take a swim test and if she passed she would get a swimming bracelet.

Alessandra: "The very nice lady told me about the test, so I was thinking to myself, humm... maybe I should give it a try. Then I swim all the way across the pool and passed the test. But don’t worry mama, because every 10 minutes I rest in the shallow end and I always have a noodle"

PS: Alessandra can not swim enough to be left in the deep end, but she is so determined that some how she fooled the like guard taking the test.
